I went from the preferred package to the ultimate package. My speeds were great with the preferred package. Usually around 30 Mbps and 7 Mbps. However, with the ultimate package I'm only able to get a max of 95 Mbps down with 21 Mbps up. The download speed should be much closer to 150 Mbps than it is.
The first technician said my down signal was too high and up signal was too low. He put a splitter on after the wall jack and the coxial connects to the splitter to the modem. He said that helped improve the signals. I wasn't satisfied. I had another technician come out. The 2nd technician tried switching out my modem with the cox cisco modem. With that, speeds were actually worse. My modem is a new SB6141. This leads me to believe it's not a modem issue, but a line issue probably outside our house.
When we moved into our house 3 years ago, we were the first in our circle to have cox as our ISP, so the street crew had to lay cables in our yard and down our street.
The technicians said nothing more could be done. They said Im not guaranteed 150 Mbps and that 95 Mbps is what I should be satisfied with. However, I'm not satisfied and believe I should be able to get 150 Mbps down speeds.
When I disconnect the splitter, I get the signal levels
Can someone here give me some help with this?
I would really appreciate it.

[AZ] Possible Changes in Data Usage Reporting
Does anyone know if there has been a change in the way Data Usage is reported for COX in the Chandler AZ Area by reviewing the Data Usage Meter they provide? Here is my dilemma. I have lived at our address since April of Last year. I do have 7 computers in my home for my family, kids and one is my main Media Center PC. I also a Windows Server System Administrator with about 18 years in the IT field so i'm not a non-technical user and I am not using the standard ID10T login account :)
Also I have cut the cable right after I moved in also so technically in the last 10 months nothing has really changed in my infrastructure aside from the addition of a ROKU 1 for Christmas and the only services I get from Cox are the internet package with the 250 gig / month cap. So since April until around January 6 and on My daily access seemed to have jumped up by a HUGE amount. Before for each month I was averaging around 150 to 200 gig a month and never exceeded my bandwidth. Now for December and January I have more then doubled my usage according to the Data Usage meter. December was just over 500 gig a month and January so far is at 493 gig. I do have a wireless network and all devices connected are restricted by MAC address. so no one gets on to my wireless unless I add their MAC address. I have also installed BitMeter OS on all my windows machines to keep track of my kids data usages and I have been checking the meter daily. I have been shutting down machines for a day at a time and checking the numbers the next day and cant locate what's going on. I was finally discussing this with other people at work and someone else in gilbert stated he had received the same notice for the first time for his home also in December. His said he has exceeded his monthly bandwidth by 300 gig also. So now im wondering if some firmware or new hardware was implemented that may be using different calculations?
So now wondering if there is any useful info I can get at from the modem diagnostics page or can I get access to the same counters COX is deriving this info from. Also is anyone familiar with consumer level wireless routers with built in switches that could also calculate / monitor per port usage statistics so I could at least narrow it down to the proper edge switches where the most bandwidth is coming from.

[GA] Middle Georgia Price increases (Again)
Here we go again! Cox has just priced itself out of my budget for cable TV. Guess the next step is to climb up on the roof, re-aim the antenna, add a new feed line, and do a channel scan with the HDTV. If that's OK Cox Cable TV will be history!

"upgraded" website won't accept payments
Anyone else notice that Cox's "upgraded" website won't accept payments? I think I tried ten times to log in between Xmas and now to pay the bill - couldn't even get past the login screen.
Finally had to make a payment over the phone - hopefully the automated payment system doesn't ding me for ten bucks.

[VA] Porting a number from Cox VOIP service to Ooma
I am a Cox HSI subscriber w/ TV/Internet and VOIP service. I have had the VOIP service for over two years and want to terminate it and port my current COX VOIP number to my new Ooma service. Is anybody aware of any issues that might arise? Thanks for any help.

Webmail Weirdness
I've recently run into problem's trying to access the enhanced version of Cox webmail. My browser (IE) just hangs up with a message "waiting for idm.west.cox.net" If I switch over to the classic version, it loads right away. What's really strange, is that after entering and exiting the classic version, if I again try to enter the enhanced version, it works consistently until I close my browser! When I restart the browser, it's back to the hung up condition trying to access the enhanced version. I guess I could switch to the classic version but it appears to have problems in message composition with a Java error message that it wont load because of security issues. This is due to new security features added to Java which can be circumvented by changing the Java security settings or adding the web mail as a trusted site. But even after doing that, I got error messages about apps failing to load. I get the impression that Cox isn't paying a whole lot of attention to webmail and would be happy if everyone moved to gmail or Yahoo. This is all rather ironic since Cox's direct predecessor, @Home, went under, in part, because of persistent email problems. I guess to be fair, those problems were with SMTP/POP email and web mail was nonexistent then. However, I digress. If anybody out there has the foggiest about what's going on and how to fix it, I would appreciate hearing it.

[AZ] Rate Increase
Dear COX,
I am subscribed to receive more than 200 channels for video and many other music channels. Why so many? Because I am forced by your practice of bundling channels and tier offers. I have never listened to any of the music channels and routinely I do not watch more than 20 of the many video channels I get. You make me pay for things I do not need or want.
But it is not only you doing this to their customers; there is no way for customers to really shop the market for a better deal; you, the cable/satellite industry, have us in your hands and therenothing we can do as customers.
It is hard to believe we, as citizens in this country, can not do a thing to protect us from your unfair business practices.

[CA] 92029 systematic internet dropping
Over the past 2 weeks, my internet has been dropping within 5 mins of 10am everyday. The modem would connect and disconnect every couple of mins but never actually give me access to the internet. At around 4-5pm, the internet would return and everything goes back to normal. I was just wondering if there was work being done since it syncs with standard work hours.
Thanks.

[AZ] Flex Watch Channel List?
So, I'm considering cancelling Directv and CenturyLink 7Mbps DSL and getting instead Cox Flex Watch which has 25Mbps internet and 10 TV channels including HBO and Starz for a total 12-month-guaranteed price @59.99 month.
There is no complete channel list on the cox website of the precise 10 channels on the Flex Watch plan specifically. Does anyone have Flex Watch in AZ and is able to tell me exactly which TV channels are included? Are they all HD? Is HD equipment included in the price?

[CATV] New channel lineups
OK,
I am really confused now. For where I live (Tempe, AZ) they have the following lineups:
TV Starter (50 channels)
TV Essentials (153 channels)
TV Economy (201 channels)
Advanced TV (246 channels)
Advanced TV Preferred (321 channels)
Advanced TV Premier (330 channels)
Advanced TV Ultimate (377 channels)
I currently have Advanced TV, but looking over the other lineups, I realized that I can get by with TV Essentials at a lower cost (I don't use OnDemand or Music Choice). So went to the store and had the clerk adjust my subscription. When I eventually got home I saw I had TV Economy (could have been my fault for I really have bad handwriting on my notes).
So I just decided to call instead. The tech on the phone said that I have to give up my box to get Essentials otherwise you get Advanced TV. That made me happy (one less thing to pay for), and I asked them to confirm that all I have to do is take the box out and connect the cable to my TV (2 year old Samsung Smart TV) and scan and I would get Essentials. They said that is correct.
So, I hang up, take out my cable box, setup the TV and scan, and scan, and scan channels. Only to find that I do NOT get all the channels specified on TV Essentials (really ended up with "TV Starter").
So... anyone know what is really required to get TV Essentials and how to get it?

Was advised, have the bundle, that switching to eMTA would be a good idea. We have the older type outside box for phone, cable, internet.
Any one switch to the eMTA setup and have an opinion about value of switch?

[FL] Tried to upgrade SB6180 firmware, Cox says not possible?
I spoke to Tier 2 support at COX trying to get the SB6180 firmware updated as I am still stuck at:
SB6180-3.2.1.0-GA-00-252-NOSH
And I have been having sporadic speed issues so it was suggested by one technician to update the firmware. But when I called the support number and was transferred to Tier 2 they stated that Cox HSI NEVER updates firmware and there was no way to "PUSH" an update to a modem.
I am just curious if this is true, and if so, how do I go about updating my firmware? From what I understand the latest version is significantly newer and makes many performance and stability improvements.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
