I realize hurricanes are a catastrophic event, but like any business you have to have some level of redundancy. Hurricane Irma passed my area Monday morning and was gone by Monday night. Internet lasted the entire time. Went down Tuesday evening (during clear skies and calm winds) and has been out since.
I made preparations and have UPSes and a generator. Is it reasonable to expect that Cox does the same and makes sure they have alternative power sources available? The last reason I was given for the outage is "commercial power availability." I though every business continuity plan addressed power on the first page? Hurricanes aren't a new thing, neither are trees taking out power lines. Is it really about profit and the 1% chance of this happening or is really that difficult to have generators and tanks of gasoline at the nodes?
Note that I have a small business account for the home office. Am I justified in asking for a credit for each day of the outage?
