I just received two mini-boxes for the house. Hooked one up and powered it up. Connectivity check was fine, then prompted it needed a mandatory firmware update. Hit select on remote and get update progress screen. Sits at 0% for more than a half hour. Called Cox support, the tech was clearly at a tier that had very little technical ability. Had no idea what to do, said they have to roll a truck with a tech. There is no reset switch on the box. Cycling power puts box in same loop, wants to update but progress sits at 0% forever, clearly it is not getting the firmware from the server.
I know there is nothing wrong in the house, internet router modem works fine, TV tunes analog and digital channels fine directly without the box.
I am miffed that I cannot get any higher level technical phone support. It feels to me that the support that I had cannot instruct anything other than power cycling, otherwise it goes to a field tech.
