Five Dollar per month Internet upgrade promotion
As subject says, Cox is currently running this promotion; good for 6 months of a upgrade to the next tier for 5.00 per month.
I currently have the Premium package, and service is fine. Thought I would try Ultimate for 6 months, then drop back if I really didn't notice a difference.
Ordered it online today, but speeds never increased. I did a chat session with Cox support and was notified that a tech would have to come to activate Ultimate.
Is this mandatory? Can someone be upgraded (assuming they have the proper modem) to the Ultimate package without a tech visit?

[VA] Cox CATV Maintenance In Progress? Cox Poquoson, VA
Hello Folks,
I've noticed on my television that several channels have "locked/paused". It has the appearance as a video tape or dvd movie where you hit the pause button.That mean there is headend work or line maintenance going on? Is that something I should call in? I unplugged the TV from the power outlet and plugged it back in, and its the same. Got one of my kids spare tv's from the shed,plugged it in and it also did the same.Far as I can tell doing a speed test the internet is ok(?). Here's a link of speed test I just performed:
Its really no "biggy" or emergency, I'm just curious.

Cox blocked for SMTP on alternate port (26)?
So, fine, I know that Cox blocks SMTP port 25 except when it comes to their own servers (which I think is just stupid, but whatever). So I built an additional SMTP receive connector on our mail server for my one Cox telecommuter, and it uses port 26 instead. But he tells me that he still can't send from his Cox connection.
Does anyone currently use port 26 to connect to a non-Cox SMTP server. Or use any other port that works, for that matter?
And, no, I'm afraid using Cox servers with his Cox ID to authenticate, while spoofing his own corporate email address is only a partial answer - many of the systems he'll be sending mail to use SPF to verify the identity of a sender, and will reject email that doesn't trace back to our server.

[CATV] Can you pressure Cox to remove copy-once flagging?
All the channels including non-premiums are flagged, basically anything that I could get back in my QAM days is open, everything else dead.
I feel like I wasted 100 bucks on my CableCARD HDHomeRun because the plan was to integrate this into my current system for watching QAM with my old plain HDHR. The copy-once ruins that for the extra channels, plus I cannot stream any of those to my Android using InstaTV either.
Does Cox respond to de-flag if you ask?

Anyone know how to get Into the outside junction box thst cox bolts to the side of the house? I have dirrectv, and cox Internet I am swapping two rooms, and need to swap connections to those rooms. However they are in that box. Cox wants to charge me 35.00 to unlock it for 2 mins.. dirrectv wants 45.00...
It is not rocket science to swap these two lines.. I have already done most of my swap in the attic. But the last line I need is in that box.

Looks like some dbag is ddosing my cmts or having significant upstream noise issue.
Internet dropped out 4 times in a row when streaming to twitch. Stopped stream, getting latency spikes & packet loss, as well as significant out of order packet arrivals.

Cox HSI has been down since Tuesday at least at 5:00 pm when I got home. It continued to be down until when I left this morning at 7 AM. Chat has confirmed it is an outage. Anyone know when this may be restored? Thanks

Cox engaging in upload throttling?
I have created, among other things, a http webserver meant for distributing my media to myself when I am at a remote location. I have noticed that upload starts fast. 25megabits/s for some period of time (a minute or so), then 19 megabits for another 5-10 minutes, then 8 megabits/s for 5-10 minutes, then 2-4 megabits/s.
I am pulling data from the webserver (cox residence) using a download accelerator because single stream performance appears to max out at about 8mbps from the get go.
I have great modem signal levels. I have a SB6141.
Anyone noticed this garbage happening to them? (perhaps on a large google drive upload (p.s. don't use chrome as the uploader--b/c google rate limits their browser's upload speed))

[LA] [CABLE] Cox TV Starter filter and a Cable Modem?
Hey guys. Cox has once again gone up on my rates. Right now I have Cox TV Essentials ($70/month) and Preferred Internet ($63/month). I called and told them I was thinking of switching so they knocked off $15/month which brings me back down to what I was paying before.
While on the phone, I asked the rep the price of Cox TV Starter. She said it was $25/month. I asked if it included the local clear QAM channels like I'm getting now. She said it did not. A friend of mine told me a while back that he had Starter but was getting the same channels as Essentials (without a box) and that Cox couldn't put the filter on the line that prevented channels 23+ as it would also block the QAM that the cable modem needs to operate. I thought he might have been just lucky that they forgot to put the filter in place, but now I am wondering if this is truly the case.
Can Cox filter my channels to just SD Ch2-23 and still have my cable modem work?

I am also running an ongoing speed test from testmy. net, up and down every 2 hours for 5 hours.
Any ideas as to what I can do to get what I should be getting up and down? It's been too long a time since I had to monkey around with things like this, and while our speed is far faster than what it used to be with our past ISP, I really would like a faster upload as well and to get what I am payng for, or close to it.
Could my upload be affected by upload throttling? And what does the following mean?
