[LA] Current Retention Offers for Internet-only Customers

My two year price lock comes to an end with next month's bill cycle. I'm wondering how well I can expect to do when it comes time for the painful conversation trying not to pay retail prices? I'm Internet-only with 150/10 (still 10 in this market) service. I would accept an upgrade to the old 300/30 tier, which I understand retentions can occasionally do, but I'd prefer to keep my 150/10 at something reasonably close to the $49.99 I'm currently paying.

TM3402 SW update

PHX been just a bit pokey for me of late. No real slowdown just some latency issues. Checked modem and lo and behold Event Log shows SW update on 8/27. Version TS11.02.032.09.03_052020_711.PC20.03 dated May 20, 2020. Any intel on the what's new since these updates are infrequent at best. Only weird thing I've actually seen is the the first two Event Log entries are dated 12/30/1969 before the next starts at 8/24/2020 which is actually b4 the update so they may have always been there. Much obliged.

new modem errors

So I got a new modem last week as my Arris died. I moved to a Netgear CM1000. I've been watching the modem status daily and I'm noticing some errors popping up on two channels. 3 and 4. At what point to have Cox visit to see what's wrong? My arris wasn't generating any errors. Thanks in advance. Don

[VA] Dropouts in Fort Hunt area.

Hi, there's been a rash of postings in Nextdoor from customers experiencing short drop-out many times a day over a week now. Just like I've been experiencing too. Collingwood, Hollin Hall, Fort Hunt Startford, Bucknell Manor reporting so far. Reports are that phone tech support has been unhelpfull - but I like to think (hope) the calls are somehow being aggregated and resulting in some form of escalation. It seems like more than a nodes and last-run lines problem. What's the best approach for reporting an area wide disruption like this? Dave

Netgear modem enable extended upstream transmit power

So I bought the new Netgear CM2000 2.5 modem for my Cox Gigablast home service. I noticed a setting I can change and I'm wondering if I should. The stuff I read about similar settings is just confusing. It's a the bottom of picture and is labeled: enable extended upstream transmit power It's off by default. Do I want to enable it? Thanks in advance. Don

Cox IP's can no longer check new customer rates?

Before you could look up a different address or even say your own address was starting new service. Now you are forced to a login page. I can not figure out how to get the site to prompt to enter an address to look up service. Tried old cached links from google--all now forward to a login page. Am I missing something or has Cox yet again deployed dirty tricks to hide rates?

Cox FTTH and the leaps required to make it happen in LV

I was wondering for those of you that have FTTH with Cox, how difficult was it to make it happen? Is there a cost for you to bring it to the house? I can only assume the monthly cost goes up. I as wondering what all happens to go that route in Vegas, and how much trouble it was to make it all happen. :)

Cox new customer discount dance

We did the Cox new customer dance again this past weekend. My wife canceled her account and I created a new account under my name. We wanted to do that to get the free unlimited data deal that comes with some of their plans. We chose the Ultimate 500/10 plan. We are using one of Cox's gateway, but I'm using my own router.

https://ibb.co/bJrcFq4 https://ibb.co/VmnFmzY https://ibb.co/94ys3t3 I get packet loss really bad during peak hours. Starts around 5:30PM and ends around 8PM. I have two Docsis 3.1 modems and both have the issue (though support says it my modem). They're coming out to install a new modem. It's not the modem, it's their shitty network.

https://www.cox.com/aboutus/policies/ccpa.html If you are a Cox subscriber in California, and value privacy (okay, the little privacy we wish we had), you can opt out of their data selling practices here. I am unaware of how well anyone knows of this and it seems recent. Scroll down to find the exact link to get to the forms. If nothing else, I suggest doing it just to exercise your legal right to do so. That is all, not as inflammatory as my previous alert.

Cox Cannot Fix Intermittent Jitter and Packet Loss

So after filing an FCC complaint and working with Cox's Executive team for a couple months, they have no more ideas or steps to troubleshoot/fix my internet issues. I am really frustrated because I have no other options for internet and I need some advice/ideas on if there is anything else I can do. Here is a little background history: All Internal Lines and External Lines have been verified and signal levels are within their specs. I have one straight line in to modem with no splitters that was recently replaced. They replaced the drop from the line and trucks have checked the lines in the neighborhood. https://imgur.com/A2rJQ0q Node Utilization and Ingress has been ruled out. The technician even showed me their laptop and everything is green. I originally had my own MB7420 but they gave me a new SB8200 free of charge to rule out modem. I've tested with multiple PC's and Ethernet cables directly hardwired to modem and see consistent results. Here is a couple example of issue. https://imgur.com/fE6ucTf https://imgur.com/qjjFfxo https://imgur.com/RHR2dEb Cox see's absolutely nothing else on their end but there is something still clearly wrong. I even tested it on my work computer which is on a different node 2 miles away and their tests are flawless meanwhile mine is suffering. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

[CT] Newtork packet loss an high ping

Has anyone been experiencing packet loss and/or high ping? I can't remote desktotop my pc, because of continual drops. Forget gaming, because pings are high. On a side note, I get routed all the way to the UK to come back to CT when I connect to the remote desktop gateway. Is anyone seeing anything similar?

[CA] dns troubles

My original post for reference: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32566351-CA-sbg6580-new-firmware-bug Last Friday I purchased a Motorola MG7550, 16x4 modem/router with software version 7550-5.7.1.20. They main benefit I was looking for was concurrent 2.4/5G bands. Once again through it's configuration page I set it to use specific DNS and disabled "Obtain Automatically from MSO." Through the weekend everything seemed fine, though I really did not have any specific reason to verify it honored the DNS setting. Monday afternoon I kept loosing connectivity while using my main PC and physically checking the MG7550 it seemed like it was rebooting over and over. Eventually I powered it off/on via the back switch and it seemed to stabilize. At some point I had disabled/enabled networking in linux and when everything finally came back up, I see it pulled Cox DNS again. I logged into the MG7550 and see that my preferred DNS settings were still configured. I also noticed the software version is now 7550-5.7.1.27. I think maybe the pushed update is what was causing the modem to reboot. Anyways, I'm frustrated again about the DNS setting. So I think since this is the same behavior happening on a different modem/router, maybe it is a stupid linux thing. I reboot into Windows and it pulls the Cox DNS. I check my iPhone and it has my preferred DNS, but once I cycle off/on the wifi, I see it now pulls Cox DNS. So I manually reboot the MG7550, cycle networking off/on on my PC and phone and now it pulls my preferred DNS. So what seems to repeat since Monday is that when Cox renews my WAN lease every 24 hours or so, any subsequent disable/enable of networking device will pull the Cox DNS. At that point if I reboot the MG7550 or release/renew WAN lease through the MG7550 a subsequent disable/enable of networking device will pull the preferred DNS. This is the exact behavior of the SBG6580 in my previous post. For example, say my PC goes to sleep with the preferred DNS and Cox release/renews the WAN lease (sometimes overnight, sometimes daytime), when my PC wakes up it will pull Cox DNS. At that time if I reboot the MG7550 or manually release/renew the WAN through the MG7550 my pc will pull the preferred DNS. So can I really be the only one who has this problem? My last attempt to address this when Cox updated the software of my old SBG6580 went nowhere (see my previous post). I'm not even sure what setting on Cox's end would force this. At this point I'm inclined to return the modem and purchase a concurrent 2.4/5G band router that is cheaper than this $150 MG7550 and just go back to using my old SBG6580 in bridge mode. So my other question is, does a 16x4 modem have any benefit over my old 8x4 modem if I'm only on the the Preferred 150 plan? Thanks,

Need to swap out modem

Is there any reason why I can’t hook up a 3.0 modem to my 3.1 subscription. I believe my CGM4141 has crapped out (constant flashing light) and no outages in my area. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Called “support” to just swap out the modem with my old sb6190 so my daughter could get her school work done. Told me I would have to down grade my service? Just doesn’t sound right.

IPV6 on Docsis Gigablast?

Does Cox offer IPV6 with Docsis-based Gigablast service? I want to know what to expect as far as IPV6 is concerned if I transition from Classic Ultimate 300/30 to the Gigablast tier. I currently have a /56 IPV6 on my ER4. They removed my grandfathered 2TB datacap and downgraded it to 1.25 TB so there's nothing keeping me from changing my service now. The Gigablast service is identical price to the Classic Ultinate at $99, so I'm tempted to at least transition to it. Thank you.

Peacock and cox

If I go to the peacock site it says it’s included in coxs price , but there is no way to activate it except on the stream player or contour box and I own neither. Can cox come up with a better solution?

[Gigablast] Cut-Through Forwarding

I upgraded to Cox Gigablast and at the same time installed my own modem and router. The modem is a Motorola MB8600 and the router is an Asus RT-AC68P running the latest version of Advanced Tomato. My problem is I am not getting the normal Gigablast speeds unless I enable CTF (Cut-Through Forwarding) but when I do enable CTF I lose the ability to connect to devices I have setup in port forwarding. Speeds I get when CTF is not enabled are in the 250 to 350 range, but when CTF is enabled I get speeds in the 700 to 800 range. The upload speed stays at about 37 with or without CTF. I have other locations using cable ISP’s (Spectrum Calif. and .Net in Brazil) that are using the same routers and they don’t require enabling CTF. I also noticed that I am only getting 4 upload channels. Is that normal or should there be more? The ability to connect to devices remotely is important and they must have forwarded ports but speed is also important. Would anyone have a suggestion.

[OK] Consistently poor upload speeds

About 2 weeks ago started noticing issues while browsing the net and a test showed the download speed was fine but upload was at a miserable 1mbps. I attempted to diagnose the issue myself but nothing I did resolved it so I called cox and a technician eventually came out. While they where here they checked the box outside and did work in another neighbor's yard then said it was all fixed. Testing before they left showed the issue wasn't resolved and they begrudgingly came inside to diagnose the modem. After failing to get their tool to work with the modem but showing the coax had a good speed of 900mbps down 35 up he replaced the modem with what i'm guessing is a slightly newer panoramic modem. Speeds were fixed and all was well. Week later the issue begins again and I'm not sure what to do other than call cox once more and have a guy come out and do it all over again. If it were the modem whats the chances of the replacement modem having the same issue days later? Friend of mine has cox and is not too far from me at all and has no issues with his connection.
