Question for the experts, I just noticed this with my mac address... See photos attached. My Netgear C7800 gateway has the mac addy printed on the box as noted on my Cox account and it has an 8 as the last digit however on my cable info page when logged into my gateway has an "a" as the last digit. Obviously my internet service is working. Which MAC is correct? Should I reprovision the gateway using the addy that ends in the "a?" Serial number matches so I am puzzled....

[Gigablast] New Gigablast customer
Recently upgraded to Cox Gigablast from Cox Ultimate and unfamiliar with two sections of Netgear CM1000's reporting-Downstream OFDM Channels and Upstream OFDMA Channels. OFDM shows one of two available channels locked, OFDMA shows neither of two available channels locked. Any significance? In this market Cox only uses four of eight available Upstream channels, if that has any impact. Measuring ~ 950 MB/s download and 36 MB/s upload speeds.

Tech visit charges
Hi.
I had Cox out twice for slow GigaBlast speeds.
Got my bill last night and I was charged for two visits.
I have the inside wire plans.
Anyway EVEN if I didn't have the inside plan I don't think I should be charged to fix my internet. What's wrong with Cox?

[CT] Residents & gamers: how's latency & speed in Greater Hartford?
My wife is considering a move to Rocky Hill or Wethersfield (in the Cox-Manchester franchise).
I'm a huge gamer and tech aficionado spoiled by Optimum (a.k.a. Altice/Cablevision) where service has been immaculate (200/35 with fantastic pings, straight A's on dslreports' speed test).
* How's latency for gaming? In Overwatch, I get 50ms using the in-game "latency" counter.
* How are speeds? Is there node oversaturation?
* Is Gigablast truly available? The lookup tool said it's available but some posts on the forum say otherwise.
The only other option is DSL through Frontier. They're nearly bankrupt so any Fiber/FTTH plans are halted. Sigh.
Blizzard (the game's developer) has a public network testing tool: »us-looking-glass.battle.net/ Below are my stats when I run all three tests (Ping, MTR, Traceroute) with the options "United States" and "Overwatch" selected.
Each test is shown twice because the first one is for their Los Angeles servers, and the second is for their Chicago servers. ISP hops are masked and the "Ping" test doesn't work for a lot of people.

[AZ] Continued connectivity problems.
I keep having lots of connectivity problems.
Lots of stuttering while streaming and packet loss. It comes and goes, but lately its pretty frequently in the last two months. I also have problems watching regular TV via Contour though to be honest I don't know if its as frequent as we mostly watch Netflix, or Amazon Prime etc.
I've had a few guys out, One put on a MOCA adapter though it didn't seem to help much, but did help with packet loss while gaming. They usually say the signal is fine, and start blaming my Modem or Router, mind you I've got a Motorola MB8600 and a Ubiquity Edge Router X + a Ubiquity LR AP. Both of which recently replaced a SB6183 and a Asus AC1900 that had the same issue.

Payment Declined
The Cox email robot sent me a message today that my payment had been declined. They also added a bogus $25 "Returned Payment Fee" to my account. I called my bank and they said they declined the transaction because Cox sent the number "2" in the AVS field of the transaction instead of my address, so this was clearly a Cox billing system error. I called Cox and they said they had to submit a form to fix the problem and get the fee reversed, but it will take a few days because that department is very busy, and this was not the first one today. Anyone else have a credit/debit payment problem this month?

Be carefull with service calls
I was getting some interference and stuttering on my cable TV, called tech support and they confirmed inconsistencies with my connection. Sent out tech, he said connection was fine on his meter, then looked at my splitter outside and said that's your problem and changed it out.
Fast forward two weeks later I have a $75 service charge billed. Called and complained and apparently the tech said no problem was found and he performed no work. There is a new splitter attached plain as day.
The best they would do is knock half of the $75 charge.
Just a heads up if your having a tech come out always get paperwork.

[Modem] High corrected and uncorrectables; ignore?
First, I had a power surge come down an ungrounded coaxial and take out my last modem. Cox paid for damages and put in a grounding block. New modem is SB6183 and I keep watching corrected and uncorrectables continue to climb. The screenshot is about a month. Should I worry about these?
I have zero issues with bandwidth.
I am investigating DNS issues for lagging web browsing; may be my new router though.
One T-3 error every 4-6 days according to modem log.
I have no splitters and no amps connected. I do have one F-Pin coupler. Could that have been damaged after the surge and cause this?

[AZ] Packet Loss in First and Second Hops
Hi all. Long problem I'm having, or at least its turning out to be one.
I've got significant packet loss issues with my connection, or at least it appears that way based on testing. I'm experiencing a fair amount of packet loss up while playing fornite and seeing lag in other games, such as PUBG. What I experience isn't experienced by others on my team, so i'm tempted to think the problem is local.
1st and 2nd hops are always experiencing loss, while other Cox hops are intermittent. That said, I'm interested more in my questions surrounding the hop to 10.53.128.1, which is 1st when hard lined to the modem. I'm trying to see if someone can help me understand if this is normal or if I should be concerned. Anyway, here's the data and history thus far.
Equipment:
Modem:
Netgear CM1000
Router:
Ubiquiti Amplifi HD Mesh Wifi
Internet:
COX Ulitmate
PC:
i7-8700k liquid cooled(no OC)

etc...its a beast basically
History:
Cox techs visited 3 times, ended up running new line from junction box across the street and verified all signals are where they should be.
disabled ipv6 (likely did nothing)
upgraded modems Arris 6141 to Netgear CM1000 (experienced same issues with old modem which was reason for upgrade)
upgraded to Ultimate from Preferred.

[AZ] Which DOCS 3.1 Cable Modem?
I'll looking to upgrade to Cox Gigablast in Arizona soon so I need a new cable modem (no wireless built in). From the research I've done in the last few days the best modems for my needs are listed below. I've read that the SB8200 runs hot. Other than that I'm not sure which one to buy. I'm leaning towards the MB8600 or the CM1000. Couple of questions. Which modem or modems can I access the webui that provides valuable information since I read somewhere that one of the modems below restricts some information from the webui. Which one allows me to login and reboot the modem from the webui?
Arris SB8200
Netgeat CM1000

[Gigablast] Evening packet loss after Gigablast upgrade
Hey all.
I've been a Cox customer in Southern California for almost seven years, and overall have been quite happy. A month or so ago, I upgraded to Gigablast (with an Arris CM8200). Ever since then, I've been seeing pretty bad packet loss and latency to some destinations (primarily Netflix, but a few other things are affected also) in the evenings. Wired and wireless, doesn't matter. From what I can tell, the packet loss is happening at the last hop between Cox and the rest of the world (e.g. last hop between Cox and Netflix). When I contact Cox about this, they want to send a technician, but due to my work schedule, that's a pain for me. And none of the symptoms I'm seeing show any indication that it would be a problem local to me, so it also feels like a waste of my time to rearrange my schedule for a visit and then have them discover there's nothing they can do here.
So I guess I have two questions for this group.
First, is it likely (or even possible) that the Gigablast upgrade caused my traffic to take a different path through Cox's network, causing this problem to surface, or is the timing just a coincidence?
Secondly, do you have any advice for getting them to take this seriously without sending a technician to my house, when there's no evidence of a problem on my end? (Or is there some possible problem I'm not thinking of that would result in packet loss 5+ hops away from my house, but nowhere before?)

They keep messing with the channels on my tv and the contour app. Example they moved velocity from 1080 to 80 but on the contour app all channels or most now start at 1000.

[LA] Gigablast Install in New Orleans
Last week when I logged into my Cox account to pay my bill, I got a notification that Gigablast is now available in my area in New Orleans’ Garden District. I immediately signed up for the service. The next day I received an automated call telling me that I needed to call in to complete the order, which I did. When I got home that evening, I did all the standard stuff...restarted my SB8200 modem, router, etc. There was no change in the download speed, no blue light, no gigablast. I called Cox and they immediately offered to drop ship me a new modem (which I don’t want) and I was told there was no option for tier 2 support. After insisting that I speak to a supervisor, I was told that the next step would be an on-site technician call. An appointment was set up for the following Sunday between 5 and 7pm. The following day (Saturday), I receive an email from Cox telling me that my appointment was cancelled. I get back on the phone with Cox and they can’t tell me why the appointment was canceled, but they offer to reschedule for Sunday morning between 8 and 10am. At exactly 10am on Sunday, I get a call telling me that the technician will be there in 15-20 minutes. While he’s on the phone with me, he asks me what the work order is requesting the he do (I found this an odd question). He arrives and comes inside, restarts the modem and leaves. I wait a while to see if he’s coming back, but he doesn’t return. I call Cox again to find out the status. I’m told that another work order was opened and I’ll be contacted in another 24-48 hours. Today is 48+ hours later an no contact from Cox, so l call back. I’m told that the work order is in the queue and that I will be contacted in another 24-48 hours, some about a missing OFDM channel. The lack of communication from Cox is deafening. Any suggestions, or do I just wait and keep calling?

What is wrong with Cox?
Their pricing is atrocious to begin with, their advertised pricing is bait-and-switch as the website advertises and price and then goes "SURPRISE! You need a contract to get that", and worst of all, they are the only ISP AFAIK to have bandwidth caps in CT. Comcast doesn't have bandwidth caps, Charter doesn't, Altice doesn't, Frontier doesn't, Atlantic Broadband doesn't, and the local yokel Thames Valley has a 2TB soft cap that AFAIK is not enforced, but those areas also have Comcast.
I'm looking to buy a house soon in a Cox town, so I am looking at where Frontier offers service, and any offer I make will have a contingency clause requiring Frontier to be installed and tested at 45/6 or better before the sale can go through. Luckily, Frontier appears to be rolling out fiber in the area, and doing 150/150 for $40/mo for 2 years. I'm not dealing with these asshats at Cox. It's quite an accomplishment that they are significant WORSE than Comcast on the whole, which is saying something considering that Comcast is a criminal organization! At least with Comcast though, the ridiculous price they advertise is the same ridiculous price you pay, and if you want to use 10TB of data, you can (although that's not true for many other Comcast markets).

[LA] Motorola MB7621 in New Orleans or LA?
I am considering upgrading a client to Cox 100 Mb from her deteriorating DSL service (multiple outages per week, onsite fix unsuccessful after several days' wait, etc.)
I currently have at my home/office an Arris 6141 and 150 MB service that works well, but would prefer to get my client a DOCIS 3.0 device with more than 8x4 channels. The Motorola MB7621 is well reviewed, as is the Netgear CM500. I prefer devices based on the Broadcom chipset.
Anyone using these devices on Cox locally in New Orleans or Louisiana? What's your experience?

I was playing some PUBG tonight and noticed that my packet loss on the upstream is varying quite a bit. What is acceptable packet loss? The upload speed is about 2.5KBps to 5KBps. My ping time during each game was between 25 and 45ms. I don't play competitively or seriously but I would like to play fairly and not be at a disadvantage. I also don't want my wife calling me when shes working one of her jobs from home or doing schoolwork and the internet goes down or something, LOL. I have not had any other noticeable issues that I know of. Downsteam during these games was perfect. The cox speed I am on is the 300/30 and my modem is a SB6183
