Last Saturday I went to my local Cox store and got them to change my service and got the Bronze bundle. My download speed before this was around 3mbps, and after the bundle would be around 15mbps. The lady at the Cox store told me that I should see a change later that day or at most 24 hrs. So after about a 36 hr wait I still did not see any difference. The next time I talked with one I was told it could take up too 48 hrs to go into effect. So I waited and did a speedtest with the same 3mbps results. After calling again I was told that I needed to wait until today (tues 4/30) for the tech to come out that was installing my phone system.
Yesterday (mon 4/29) I got a new cable modem, Motorola SB6141 which replaced my old Motorola SB5100 (i believe that is the number). While talking to the service agent on the phone after I had my new modem installed, I told her about my speed issue again and she told me it was going to be taken care of tomorrow when the tech came.
Today (4/30) the tech came and told me they have nothing to do with increasing my speed it was all on there end. He insisted to make sure they know it was nothing a tech could do. So after he left I waited for a few hours to see if things would magically work like it was suppose to. I am still getting the same download speed as before (3mbps) and not the new speed I was told I was to get (15mbps).
I have done all it all from disconnect the T-splitter on the cable line to take off my router with no luck. From Speedtest.net it looks like my speeds are not lagging out or spiking anywhere. Also a few times on the speedtest I noticed that my upload speed actually passed my download speed for awhile and at the end of it would stop to correct speeds.
Tomorrow I have a tech coming out to my house again to try and resolve this issue. My question for you all is does this sound like it is a tech issue or someone on the phones at Cox not having a clue. Also any advice of what I should do or who I should call would be great.
