SO, I had a problem with upload speeds out of the blue last week using an old Motorla SB6141. After resetting my modem a bunch I realized that it would slow down about 10 minutes later. Figured it's time to get a new modem and upgrade my package from the 150 to the 300 since it's only $4 more a month. Okay, so I did all that. Had a tech out due to some slow performance, he seemed to clear it up because someone had used too many splitters in an improper manner. Things seem better... BUT I still only have 3.1 for my downstream. My upstream is green and 3.0. The technician instantly said that the SB8200s are no good and that it's Arris's fault. He said that when he got his 8200 the blue upstream light was only on for a bit and when he upgraded the firmware, it stopped working. The thing is I didn't upgrade anything. I also don't see a place to upgrade firmware AND I was under the impression that only the ISPs pushed updates to your modem.
I don't buy it. Does anyone else out here know what's going on? My speeds are fine but I'm not getting docsis 3.1 upstream. I want to educate myself a little before I call Cox again. The only channel that looks off is channel 4 at 34 dBmV, the others are 35.3.
Are we provisioned for 3.1 out here? The tech said we are and that Arris is telling customers the signal needs to be 45 dBmV. He says that it's on Arris.
I do have weird timestamps in my logs from 1-1-1970 which make no sense...
HALP! ;) Thanks in advance. Also here's my info for upstream:
