Modem Help

Why would the message service Interrupted appear on my Cox internet account page? A tech came out last night and said all signals were good. He could not see the modem on my account and said modem is bad. My download speed is 300+ but upload is 1mb. Modem is a Netgear CM600 less than a year old. Before I purchase another modem is there anything I should check?
