What is the purpose of this backdoor that unless I'm wrong is added to Netgear modems including COAM modems that allows the bypass of the admin password set by the user?
On my CM600 if I login with Login: MSO Password: changeme I can bypass the admin password set. This MSO account is hard set and password cant be changed. Seems like a potential risk.
Please give this a try with other models.
Edit: So I was wrong about the login being hard coded. It can be changed. I was up late last night so forgive me on that one. Still interesting that those who thought they secured the interface by changing the admin password had actually not. The question of what function this has still remains.
