For the past couple of weeks, I've been having extreme difficult playing World Of Warcraft. I've contacted Blizzard Support on multiple occasions regarding the error:
"The connection to the network data source did not respond within the expected amount of time."
The error provides a link to: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/7410
I've gone through the entire process listed on that site, tried a repair on my game, uninstall/reinstall, and worked with their support team to no avail. They said it's likely an ISP issue at this point. If I keep trying to launch the game, sometimes it'll eventually launch but the "home" latency is high inside the game at 165ms and higher, whereas the "world" latency is 40ms or so. This causes the game to be very sluggish between loading zones, in game chat, etc. It makes the game nearly impossible to play.
For grins and giggles, I decided to connect to my VPN (PrivateInternetAccess) to the closest server (auto) and see if it made any difference to rule out any possible ISP/Routing Issue. The game works flawlessly over the VPN with the World/Home Latency being 46ms or below. I've also noticed many websites, including NetFlix and YouTube, load much faster, buffer less, and so on.
Is there some possible QoS filtering going on or possible routing issues? Anyone else here having the same issue? I honestly don't care about spending the $5 a month for the VPN connection if it allows me to use my connection correctly, but it doesn't seem that I should need to do so.
