[OK] Modem resetting for no apparent reason

For several weeks now, my modem has been doing a reset a couple or more times a day, usually at the least opportune moment. I'll be doing some surfing, and become aware that I've lost contact with the internet. I look over at the modem, and it is going through the usual staged blinking light sequence that it does when I power cycle it. It always re-syncs right away. My router is fine. The modem is a Motorola SB5120, which works fine for the level of service I have. But I wonder if Cox has changed something at their end such that old modems like this are reset in the process of renewing the lease or whatever else is going on. Unfortunately, the modem's log isn't long enough to show any real history. I have the modem's power brick plugged into a UPS, and nothing else that's plugged into that is resetting. It just seems as though the modem is running fine, and the power is fine, and there's never any trouble re-syncing once that begins. So it seems that Cox is deliberately resetting the modem. Oh, and it never happens more than once in an 8-12 hour period. It seems if the modem or line was bad I would at least occasionally get a couple or more in fairly quick succession, but that never happens. The line seems ok too. Downstream I'm getting 36 dB S/N and power of -2 dBmV. Upstream is 42 dBmV. Can anyone suggest what may be going on?
