"GET A MINI BOX TODAY To improve your video experience, we're moving toward the industry standard of providing a purely digital signal to every TV in your home. We began the transition to All Digital on February 2, 2016. This means you'll need a mini boxTM for your TVs that don't have a Cox receiver to keep watching your favorite channels. You've already lost some channels, and we don't want you to lose even more. On February 23, 2016, you will lose channels like: ESPN, HGTV, USA, Disney By May 17, 2016, you will lose all remaining channels including your local channels: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX All you need to do is order and install a free mini box to avoid losing service. Act Now to get 2 mini boxes FREE for 1 year ($2.99/month value each)." My TV is a TOSHIBA MD30H82 30 Gray Combo TV. It has a built in HD tuner, QAM1. Current example: CBS is channel 3, CBS in HD is channel 3-001. Other channels are the same way. One annoyance: to watch 3-001 I have to first go to channel 3 then bump up the channel to view 3-001. Will my HD TV really require the cox box? Cox Cable Tidewater Virginia area. My subscription Cox TV Essential with Premier HSI. (edited: Wanted to add that I do not use any Cox boxes presently. The coax connects directly to the back of the TV from the floor; and my cable modem is a SBG900 that I purchased from BestBuy years ago connected with coax from the floor for my desktop pc.)
