Stop the Cap! Initiates War on Cox Usage Caps in Cleveland

I am scheduled for the 4pm newscast on WEWS-TV to launch our war on Cox's usage cap trial in Cleveland. I've spent the last several days gathering what publicly available financial data there is from Cox (it is privately held) and discovered the company's broadband division is RAKING IN profits with unlimited service and absolutely has no financial need to introduce hard caps and overlimit fees. Cox's arguments are the same (weak) ones we heard from Time Warner in 2009 and actually make no sense whatsoever when you break them down. Reporters I am talking to in Cleveland are just as skeptical about Cox's motivations as reporters were about Time Warner here in Rochester, so we have an excellent shot of burying the concept in Cleveland... IF and ONLY IF local residents get involved in the fight. If you do nothing, enjoy your caps. Cox is very media sensitive, so if we keep this issue in the news over the summer and customers outright rebel, I predict we'll see Cox shelve the caps just as Time Warner did. I cannot fight this alone from Rochester. I will need local Cleveland residents willing to talk to reporters, attend protest events and blitz Cox with negative reactions to caps in the newspaper. If you want to help, let me know. -- Phillip M. Dampier Editor, Stop the Cap! http://stopthecap.com
