Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to find an Internet provider for an apartment in Chandler we just bought; (no real need for a phone or TV, at least for now).
I compared prices, and it looks like Cox is not even trying to be competitive: their lowest tire is up to 15Mbps cost $40 a month (Cox Essential). This is a deal for new customers only. For $36 I can get up to 20Mbps from CenturyLink. Next tier Cox shows is Cox Preferred, up to 50Mbps with a price tag of $55 a month. I did not see anything in between; there is a jump from up to 15 to up to 50Mbps. All these prices are for 12 months only. Regular pricing from Cox is $53 and $67. CL does not show what happens to their price after 12 months.
At the same time DirecTv offers a package for new customers where you get TV, Internet & phone for $55. I did not look into details yet, and I have no idea which company they use for Internet, but I may call them tomorrow.
Anyway, I was wondering if you can tell me why I would want to pay $40 to Cox for up to 15Mbps instead of $36 for up to 20Mbps for CL?
I have never had CL, we always had Cox at out house (higher tier), but this apartment does need to have more than ~15-20Mbps. At the same time I don't want to get 5Mbps because nobody guarantees speed, and only say "up to 15 or 20" Besides paying outrageous money for Cox Internet at home, I was pretty happy with the service overall (minus some frustration while troubleshooting with them over the phone).
Is up to 15Mbps for $40 from Cox better than up to 20 from CL? TY
