Our connection drops regularly, Cox sent a technician who said our frequencies are misaligned (or something like that) and that our modem isn't powerful enough to handle all the data we're pushing through it. He claimed to have fixed the problems he had found but we still constantly lose our connection.
We have something like 8 computers, a PS4, and a few phones all accessing the internet playing games watching Netflix and YouTube and the like. He said they could give us a stronger modem for free (he described it as going from 8 'lanes' to 16 'lanes'), though I can't remember the model number. Currently we have a Motorola SBV5220 paired with a D-Link router (DIR-632).
I don't know anything about cable connections so I don't know if I'm about be scammed in some manner or am about to make a bad or unnecessary decision. Is there anyway I can check all this?
