[NV] Las Vegas: 2-4 disconnects a day, always fixed by recycling modem

For the last 6 months (with an exception outlined below) we have been getting 2-4 disconnects a day, always fixed by cutting the power to the modem, and restarting. Initially Cox said it was because they had just upgraded protocols (to DOCSIS 3.0), and needed to upgrade our router. We bought a netgear router off the cox recommended list, and while we were at Best Buy, there were other Cox customers buying new modems/routers for the same reason. We continued to get the interruptions, and Cox told us we needed a new modem, so we got a new modem, again off the Cox recommended list (which is out-of-date). Service problems continued, and we had two site visits where the technicians found absolutely nothing wrong; the 2nd tech volunteered that other people in the area had the same problem, and suggested the scope was larger (i.e. Cox had some major problem in that area). Then, at the normal winter break for the nearby high school, we had almost two weeks of uninterrupted service. School started again, and once again we were getting 2-4 disconnects a day. We just had a Cox representative come to the door, and he asked us how we liked Cox service. We politely told him about the issue, and he suggested it takes 3 fruitless service calls before they take notice. If anyone in Vegas has had a similar problem, I'd like to hear, as it will save me another run-around. Before the Cox rep came by, I was 2 weeks from changing to DSL.
