While troubleshooting an internet problem, I resorted to connecting the drop directly to my modem. Is this OK to do long term? I live in an apartment complex so I have no house box, the RG11 drop comes directly into my boiler closet and into the phone modem. Do I have to worry about spikes that would normally be stopped by a grounded splitter?
