A month ago I was on Advanced TV+ on the west side of town tuning a bunch of channels without issue (I needed a BDA-S1 amp, but that's all).
I have since parted ways with my roommate and moved downtown; I opened a new account and started TV Essential w/ no HSI because our local utility provides 50megabit symmetric fiber for free (holy lucky me, I know :D)
I have a major issue though: I can't tune the majority of my channels. HD, SD, it doesn't matter... what I can and cannot tune matches from the HD to SD variant which is worrying me. I put in a support ticket with Ceton and did some digging of my own, and we both reached the conclusion that I am not being sent CCI bytes for the channels that will not tune (CCI timeouts). Ceton posits it is either a faulty CableCARD or improper provisioning on my account. Cox phone support said there are "digital upgrades ongoing in the area causing issues, and I can instead receive an HD-DVR for free for a year" while the upgrades proceed. That is quite obviously not a solution and I'm not going to get pushed back on to an inferior DVR.
I'm going to have a go swapping the CableCARD (the tuning adapter is fine), but if this turns out to be a problem with the headend not setting the copy bits properly I have a feeling I'll never get it resolved.
Has anyone had this problem on Cox? Any reliable steps to resolution? Any Cox support personnel out there that think they can help? I'm either fixing this or cutting the cord.
