[CT] Want to go to the Ultimate Speed Tier

Last week I ordered an upgrade from the Cox Premier Tier to the Cox Ultimate Tier. Was told that there would be no service charge for the update as no tech needed to come out and that my modem would receive and updated configuration file within 72 hours and then I would be getting faster internet. Then this morning I checked my webmail and found that my order was on hold and that I had to call Cox. So we called COX and was told they will not allow me to update to the Premiere tier and that I would need a tech to come over and install my service. And I would need to pay $60 for the tech come over to install it. I explained to the lady that my drop was just replaced earlier this year from the pole to the house. and that just a few months ago I had my modem replaced by COX as the other one was having rebooting issues. I don't have a problem with a tech coming to my house, I have a problem paying $60 for a tech to come to my house to do nothing. I told her I was not paying $60 to have a tech come over and she got snappy and said basically "well then I guess your not getting the Ultimate Tier. Would you like me to cancel the order?" To which I replied yes. She then said "The order is canceled, have a nice day." then hung up on me... no thanks for calling Cox or anything... I would like to upgrade but I am not paying $60 to have a tech come over and say everything is fine. Cox should be happy that I want to spend another $30 a month with them for my internet service. I think they should push the modem config update to my modem... and then if I have any trouble send a tech out... and then I would pay the $60. They don't want to seem to do that though. :( My order number for this order was 7828503. -- Scott Greczkowski - SatelliteGuys.US - MultiChannel News
