This might not be the proper place to ask this question but, I'm so fascinated by the coaxial cable.. Such a simple piece of wire is able to transmit so much data/video/voice/ pretty much everything.
So my question is this, since both cable tv and internet come from the same wire.. why is it that sometimes the internet goes down but cable TV is still working? And secondly, is On Demand services basically using the internet portion of the line since it's kind of like streaming? Or why isn't any of the cable TV channels using up our allotted monthly bandwidth?
And completely off topic but, if anyone knows of any websites that shows pictures of the setup that goes into providing cable and internet from my house to the cable company like basically following the line and how it all works together.. that would be nice.
