COX HSI Premier user in RI here. Finally upgrading from an ancient SB5101 to a DOCSIS 3.0 SB 6141 (retail purchased).
I can install the modem and it starts, bonds channels, etc -- all looks good accessing it at 192.168.100.1 I'm not "connected", though, I just get a 172.something address for the gateway
I figured I would need to call Cox, but the wait times have been ridiculous. I've given up at 30+ minutes each time w/o ever getting to anyone. Given that my VOIP isn't available I'm draining my cell batteries. For now, I gave up and put the old modem back.
Is there any way to deal with this that doesn't mean sitting by a slowly dying cell phone all day? I've seen reference to self-serve provisioning -- is that an option? Or a better way to get in touch with a tech? Better time of day to call?
Thanks, this is really annoying.
