Hi all,
I recently got Gigablast in my area so I decided to give it a shot. Was able to get a Arris TM3402 as a free eMTA swap and was ecstatic. As of recently though I've noticed my speeds are not as good as I would of hoped. You know when you pay for 1000 down and 35 up and are only receiving about 300-500 Max and usually getting around 25-35 up you get a bit frustrated.... Since I have a TM3402 you can't access the status page so every time that I've talked to a Cox rep they have said my levels are fine, do a quick restart and 600 mbps for about an hour till everything settles down and down to the 300-500 range. Granted there are a lot of devices connected to my home at once and that's when I usually see around the 300 mpbs mark. So I did a test, modem to my PC with a CAT6 cable to see if that were to make a difference, nope.... I did some other troubleshooting methods but I've come to the final place where I present, I believe to be my problem, but I need help to understand what and how to go about this. Installed on the coax line from my residential amplifier to my modem is some sort of filter, it reads (DO NOT REMOVE, Multi DVR operation). My question is why is that installed there and is that effecting my service or is there some sort of other issue I may be facing. *attached it a photo* Please if anyone has an answer I'd love to hear it. Thanks!
P.S. also noticed as of recently my ping and quality of service has been very meh the past week...
