Not sure exactly what the requirements are but I have had a DOCSIS 3.0 modem for over 5 years and got an offer in the mail to upgrade for free. Looked over the fine print and such and they showed a full purchase price of 179.99 with a discount of 179.99 on it and a self install kit of 20.00 with a discount of 20.00. Looked at the monthly charges and they were all 0.00 so it is truly a free upgrade. Looks like it will be a cm8200 or equivalent 32x8 modem. The bad thing for some people is that if you want a combo device you have to pay. I use a dual Xeon rig with OPNsense for a router so it's not an issue at all for me anyway. The only thing that would be better is a modem with a SFP+ port so I can just run fiber or DAC
