I installed a new Samsung HDTV (J5500 series) with a Cox mini box about a week ago. It works fine, but when I power up the Samsung with the Cox mini box remote the mini box goes through a full reboot each time. The TV flashes on right away with the correct HDMI port displayed but the mini box seems to need to call home and after about 30 seconds the Cox logo flashes on the screen with a bunch of boxes that slowly turn green from left to right and then it sits there for another 15 seconds and eventually it finally displays the last channel watched. The total startup time is around a minute.
Here's what I have done so far:
...I followed the procedure to reset the mini box (disconnect all cables including the power supply and let it sit for around a minute) but this did not make a difference.
...I have another HDTV that uses a mini box (with no delay on startup) so I swapped them around and unfortunately the mini box I swapped in for the new TV now goes through the same slow startup scenario.
...I swapped the HDMI cables but that did not resolve the issue.
...I found that the new Samsung HDTV did not have the newest release of firmware so I updated that but the issue continues.
Curiously, if I power up the new HDTV with its own Samsung remote it comes on right away and the mini box doesn't call home to go through the slow startup scenario.
Obviously, it's annoying to have to use a different remote to turn on the TV and it's even more annoying to have it take a full minute to turn the HDTV on.
Anyone else seeing something like this? Has anyone come across a solution?
Thanks,
Ender
