I've been getting more and more into IPv6 since Cox turned it on a year or so ago here, and I'm wondering under what circumstances does an IPv6 prefix change? I'd love to see a permanent IPv6 prefix tied to, say, the modem or router's MAC address. We had an outage in my area a while back and my prefix changed, which threw off some DNS entries and firewall rules I had set up. It seems to me that an IPv6 prefix should have more permanency than the IPv4 address, but I'm not sure that is the case.
