Im on DOCSIS 3.1 Gigablast. Since I switched over ive encountered a issue. Fairly regularly my TCP/UDP/ICMP latency goes crazy.
At first I thought maybe it was something on my end. Like a router or some issue. But then I verified it effected anything plugged into the D 3.1 modem. Ive now switched between the SB8200 and TM3402 a few times and I have the same weird 1hr 15min peroids of horrendous latency and out right packet loss.
I have other clients in different parts of Phoenix. I ran a pingplotter TCP to google in hopes it might catch something from another location on different gear.
It did. I captured the same issue at exactly the same time in very different parts of of the city. I was plotting to google from the clients system, I was plotting to my Cox DNS server on mine. They both picked up the issue. So that proves its internal to Cox. SOmethign that even effected me getting to the Cox DNS servers and with packet loss.
The small plot is my own system and the below plot is the client. Those show the exact same times. My is UTC so off by +7
Ive never measured this on my network but now it comes up all the time. Its fairly regular over weeks.. Second chart is 7 days. Times are UTC..
When this occurs web browsing can time out or not found. Streaming pauses every few seconds. Nothing works pretty much.. Its annoying..
Im sure its just growing pains with D 3.1 and gigablast.. But if your in phoenix and sometimes internet is terrible, this is why. Gaming must be horrendous for Gigablast people in phoenix when this happens. The client is in the city of Paradise Valley, so, thats a distance, and a differenty city, from me... But yet.. Same issue effected both locations at once.
