Hello,
I had a 8 year old Cisco modem that blew up a couple of weeks ago so I went to Bestbuy and got a Netgear modem to replace it and called Cox to have them approve it on the phone or whatever they do, and so everything seemed fine. Well my internet connection is dropping frequently for a few minutes at a time and it is very annoying. I called Cox tech support today and he said there was a ton of static on my line, whatever that means, and so he did some sort of modem reset and he said there was still static but it was much less now. He said I should be good to go, well sure enough it is still dropping. He wanted to send a tech out on Monday to check the outside cables to see if there was something going on.
Can anyone help me? Is this because I got a new modem? I hope I didn't waste $70 on this Netgear modem. I am at a loss of what to do other than maybe return this modem and try a different brand.
