About 6 Months ago I called cox and asked if service was available in my area. They told me they'd have to send an engineer out to come look at it. I called them back about 2 weeks later (they were supposed to call back 2 days later but never did). They told me the area was unserviceable. After months of calling and getting transferred to different departments and filing forms I am told that it would be a $2000 construction split pay. I Thought that was an unreasonable amount considering they would also add 4 maybe 5 other houses by running the service to my house. Jim (the construction engineer) told me it would be up to me to get those homeowners to split the cost for the line or I could pay it all. So now I am working for Cox as outside sales? Against my better judgment I agreed to pay the $2000 split pay just to get Internet. After 3 weeks I have heard nothing back I decide to call back to find out why the hold up. Jim tells me he is waiting for the electric company to allow them to hang the wire on the poles. So I wait 4 more weeks still nothing. So I gave up. Fast forward two months. 2 new houses have come up in my area that are within 700 feet of my house and in line with the service line from the Elementary School behind my house(The school has Cox Internet). I notice on my way home from Church that the 2 new houses have a Cox Truck sitting in front of them and the line is being hung on the poles. So I stop to see how they were able to get that done so quickly. I am so very frustrated at this point. He tells me that Cox first told him that the house was serviceable before he bought the house and then after closing he calls to have it turned on and they tell him it is non-serviceable. Well long story-short after threat of litigation they now have service with no split pay. So here I sit another 700 feet away still with no internet. If I had any hair I would pull it out.
