Just wanted to let the group know that I was able to successfully sign-up for a 2-tuner DVR service with my Contour Flex package. (I'm in Cheshire, CT).
When I signed-up for new service in late April - they told me that Countour Flex was not available with a DVR (nor with a Cablecard in order to use my old Tivo). I kept asking several times over the last 1.5 months - and the story never changed.
Last week i got an email offering a promotional $5/mo DVR service offer. The first couple of times I tried to sign-up online, it did not let me complete (kept trying to add $75 professional install and then would bomb-out).
Last Friday night, i tried again and it worked (adding only $20 self-install fee). I soon got an email saying there was a problem and that i had to call in.
On Saturday morning i called in. The rep said she saw the problem. And said I could go to the Cox store and swap out one of my boxes. At the store, the rep said the order was not finished, but he'd take care of it and gave me the new box.
I tried to hook it up Saturday afternoon and it would not finish configuring (Stayed on loading guide for 20+ mins). A call into the activation line: the rep said the service order was never completed. She then had me power cycle - and then the box would not finish the boot-up at all. Looked like it was bricked. Just kept powering itself on and off. The rep told me i could go on Monday and swap it out again for a new box.
I called back later that night- a new rep told me same thing - said he could tell i was getting good signal - was not sure of the issue. Sent a few reset signals. Nothing.
I came back downstairs to check on it a few hours later and now the box was working. Channels mapped and DVR was available. Not sure what happened. But I am just glad it was fixed.
I think I am going to try and get the install fee waived, since I had just paid the $150 brand-new install in April.
In the end, at least I now have DVR. Thanks, Cox!
