Next Friday I will be saying goodbye. Don't get me wrong, I will go as far as saying that I loved Cox communications, prior to data caps. We had a fair relationship for 11 years. The data caps were the tipping point.
I traded my ultimate tier, grandfathered for now, of 150Mbps/20Mbps with a 2TB cap for a 45Mpbs/6Mbps DSL with unlimited data. Cost is the exact same per month.
It does not thrill me at all to downgrade my service speed to speeds that I had over a decade ago. However this is easier to stomach than paying for Cox Business class service, which would cost $5 more per month for a measly 15Mbps/5Mbps with no 2-year contract. It does however offer the peace of mind of going back to unlimited data, which I also had a decade ago and for the last 11 years.
I might just be one person, an irrelevant statistic in the end. This anecdote is just what I had to do to dodge unfair caps and keep a consistent monthly bill.
