So progress!! As many know here I have been battling COX on gigabit access to include filing FCC complaints. Back in April they announced that my neighborhood would be one to get Gigablast upgrades and would be available. The only issue with that is COX failed to upgrade phase I areas running the flex tubes for it but never actually running the fiber lines. Phase II areas of our neighborhood got the full install. So I started my conquest to get off of Century Link's shitty gigabit service that throttled Netflix, and onto COX gigablast as it was "available" in our neighborhood. To me it made no sense that Cox would put the investment in yet never complete the last mile install in our community for phase I homes. The addition of phase II would be the perfect time to upgrade phase I and get everything in order. I even canceled over this and the 2tb drop in data.
So after months of lobbying Cox over the availability as we kept getting flyers saying it was even though it really wasn't today I had a nice surprise on my door. It was an important notice about construction in our neighborhood and a contractor had been assigned to run the fiber lines. I called the contractor and it looks like they will be beginning next week and it should take a few weeks pending any major impediments for them to do the construction. I would imagine after that it wouldn't be too long for them to turn up service. Now to get them to drop the cap and offer service at 79.99 or cheaper and All is good in life! :)
