[pardon if already discussed - search of this forum didn't return any hits]
Every once in awhile - maybe weekly (?) - a new tab in my Chrome-clone browser automatically opens up with what appears to be a Cox survey. I do not have to be doing anything with mouse or keyboard for this to appear - for example, a few minutes ago I had one tab open on wunderground.com and was physically in the kitchen cleaning out a coffee cup. When I came back the new "Cox survey" tab was open (that is, the browser now had two tabs open).
This behavior has happened multiple times.
I do not know if ONLY wunderground is producing this behavior - that particular page refreshes regularly so has lots of opportunity to throw up another ad - I admit I thought "pop-ups" were disallowed in Iron (I have that setting set), the Chrome-clone I use. There unfortunately is no good way to test this since it is very intermittent with a multi-day cycle.
A search for "Cox survey" returned some hits but mostly had to do with email surveys. At least one of the hits mentioned "Cox alerts" however NONE of those hits discussed a survey page being the "alert", though a "modem for sale" "alert" apparently was displayed by Cox pop-up.
Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? Is it documented somewhere?
