I moved into a new house two weeks ago and had Cox Ultimate 200 Mbps installed. A contracted Cox technician came out and hooked up a single coax cable (no splitter or MOCA adapter) into a SB6183 modem which I purchased from Target. Since day one I have been experiencing high uncorrectables and periodic speed drops throughout the day. I got in touch with technical support tier 2 and they informed me that as long I was getting the advertised speeds, I shouldn't be concerned with the high uncorrectables, and that the slow downs are because of peak hours. The peak hours does not make sense to me because the slowdowns sometimes occur in the morning when everyone has gone to work.
I believe I have the latest firmware for my modem which is D30CM-OSPREY-1.5.0.1-GA-01-NOSH. What is concerning is that the high number of uncorrectables only occur on the first couple of channels in my modem. Before I rebooted my modem two days ago, Channel 2 had ~800K uncorrectables. Right now Channel 1 has ~150K uncorrectables and Channel 2 has ~247K uncorrectables. I also have a ton of T3, T4, and DHCP renew errors in the Event Log.
Would replacing the modem fix the high uncorrectables and slowdowns or is there something with the lines inside/outside my house? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
