I just got Cox with the Ultimate internet package installed in December. I'm renting a TG2472 modem from them and it seems to randomly drop the wi-fi speeds for both my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz connections, and sometimes drops the signal altogether. I can do a speed test at one point during the day and get over 200 Mb/s download, then I do it again later in the day when the internet starts to chug and it comes back with a 10 Mb/s or less result. What is causing this issue? Is there a router setting I could experiment with that may resolve it? I realize without a wired connection I won't ever reach the advertised 300 Mb/s but based on results I should at least be getting a steady 100 Mb/s. It's really annoying to be paying so much for internet and only getting the expected speeds part of the time. I don't believe it's due to any interference caused by blockage of the wi-fi signal as it happens to all machines in the house and two of them are often less than 20 feet from the modem with nothing blocking the line of sight.
