Currently subscribe to the Cox Preferred 25 Mbit service. Have always used Cox and never had streaming issues until recently. Not sure if it started when the service was upgraded in Jan or when netflix rolled out their Ultra-HD service... Either way streaming video from either Netflix or Youtube is very poor. Netflix stops multiple times during a movie or sitcom, youtube always complains about slow internet and changes to lower resolution before stopping altogether. Perhaps if I got a newer modem or faster service it would rectify this issue?
Anyway, I have an old DOCSIS 2.0 Motorola Surfboard modem, and I understand that a 3.0 would have better speed consistently. I'm also considering upgrading to the Cox Premier 50 Mbit service which I think is only $12/mo difference.
Is there any sort of promotion where Cox can give me a DOCSIS 3.0 modem for upgrading to a faster tier? Or If I buy it myself, are there any service promotions for existing customers? We've been Cox customers for over 10+ years. I used to do customer support for U-Verse and we always had promos we could apply if the member simply asked for it. Anyway, just trying to offset the cost of a new $100 modem. Thanks in advance!
