This weekend (1/12/13) the Cox WiFi hotspots installed on their lines went live. There are several hundred and they will soon join the Northeast group of cable companies (Comcast, TW, others) sharing the 50,000 nodes already installed. On the busy streets where I have seen them they are just 400 feet apart. That's an awful lot of hardware if they decide to push out into residential streets.
