We're currently on Cox preferred tier, but the $65/mo is killing my budget. I have absolutely no need for 50/5, as all the wife and I do is webbrowse/email/youtube, plus voip via voipo, and some ssh/rdp to some websites I manage. I'm thinking of downgrading to the "Starter" tier, as 5/1 would be plenty for what we do on the internet, and most important of all, saving us ~$35/mo (current $65/mo - $30/mo, per Cox's website). What I'm asking here, is: Will I get a ration of crap from Cox, trying to upsell me to Essentials, only saving ~$15/mo?? I'd prefer to stay with Cox, but if I can't get Starter, I'd move to CenturyLink, though I'd really HATE to...
Update: We're also considering going to either DishNet or DirectTV, but I'd REALLY rather stay with Cox for internet, so anybody have any ideas how much more they'll charge for Starter withOUT a bundled TV service?
