On my SB6183, my first three upstream channels are now all at 50.0 dBmV and my fourth channel is at 54.0 dBmV. Over the last couple of years, they've slowly risen from the upper 40s to where they are now. AFAIK, this is bad. Is there anything I, as a standard user with no tools, can do to track down or fix this? Or, is it time to bite the bullet and call Cox?
EDIT 1: Inside the house, we've only got the one splitter (2:1) which splits the cable modem off from the main cable line. All connections look fine. Outside, in the box where the cable enters the house, there are two (!) splitters: a 1:3 and a 1:2 which are feeding into each other. I have no idea why since we're only using one cable outlet. I thought Cox disconnected extra cables when they installed service. I'd disconnect all but the line we're using, but I can't even tell which cable is the feed from the street. I guess I'll have to call Cox tomorrow (Monday) and have them come out and figure out what's what (I assume they'll do that since the splitters are in the box where the line from the street enters the house).
EDIT 2: Well, it's not rocket science and it's not like I've got anything better to do. So, I just sat out there and trialed-and-errored my way through the connections. It turns out the connection we're using was going through both splitters. I disconnected everything except our active line and ran it through the smaller of the two splitters. Our signals are better (1 = 47.5 dBmV, 2 = 46.5 dBmV, 3 = 48.0 dBmV, and 4 = 51.0), but still pretty bad. I guess I'll still have to call Cox.
