So, I've been having problems for a few months. Temporarily got better, then worse. I have replaced my modem to a DOCSIS3 (surfboard 6121) and a new router.
Based on my experience in game, I posted in this thread:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27900851-Packetloss-on-Cox-s-network-68.1.4.139
I was thinking the problem was with packet loss at that server, but was informed that was not the case. However, after watching my connection for a while, I noticed that whenever I connect through 68.1.8.1 during anything remotely near peak hours, I have a massive jump in ping. (Photo 1).
According to the google (and please correct me if I'm wrong), the 68.1.8.1 node is either in Kathleen or Macon, 15 minutes either north or south of me. Pinging that node, I get the following results:
Ping statistics for 68.1.8.1:
Packets: Sent = 355, Received = 355, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 93ms, Maximum = 1236ms, Average = 249ms
Pinging a random west coast node (9+ hops):
So my jitter to a node less than 20 miles from my house can be up to a second?
Anyone else have problems at this node?
