I currently have Cox business class internet for my home office, and am considering switching to a residential bundle in order to get a decent price on TV. I thought my 2 year contract was coming to an end in April (2 years after I started service) but was told by support because I upgraded my internet speed last August, my contract now doesn't expire until August 2016. Either I didn't do a good enough job reading the fine print on the upgrade email, or they're being shady. Either way no one pointed it out to me that simply upgrading my speed (thus giving them more money monthly) extended my contract.
Regardless of wiggling out by complain or what have you, I was curious to know if anyone else had been a business internet customer and switched to residential and had their contract termination waived. I called and talked to support and they said they don't usually do that, and that the only way to cancel my contract was to pay 100% of the remaining months. In other words, there's no way out.
This is the response from one customer service rep, and so I didn't know if repeatedly trying different reps may yield a different outcome, or perhaps there's some way someone here was able to go about making the switch. After all, I am trying to give them more money on a monthly basis, you'd think they would be okay with that.
Thanks in advance.
