Saturday, my connection went offline. Power cycling the modem initially meant no connection at all, then after about an hour it was back online with only one channel up and down.
No hardware changes on my end, and my signal levels are well within spec. Close to Zero DB down, 45DB up (through two splitters, so not really a cause for alarm), and a 40DB SNR. No previous problems with anything, as the whole house has been rewired by myself with home runs of RG6 with Snap-N-Seals. Its operated as it sits for at least 6 months.
As of this morning, still no channel bonding, so I'm getting about 1/5 of my advertised speed.
Thanks to Cox not having any resource to determine if there are network issues in my area, do I really have to put up with the frustration of Tier 1 support to determine if this issue is my modem acting up or an issue with the CMTS?
There was a cox truck parked outside of my house for a few hours last week, but the guy put towels up in his windows so I think he was just taking a nap. Never saw him climb the pole to my tap (or even leave the car for that matter). Also, the problems with the modem were not immediately apparent, and I've had no disruption of TV service. Still, I have had a rogue tech simply pull my feed off the tap for no reason in my old neighborhood, so it wouldn't really surprise me. I always get freaked out when I see a Cox truck coming by.
Anyone have any ideas?
