I'm on Cox Preferred service, last week upgraded to a Cisco DPC3010 DOCSIS 3.0 modem (refurbished). Online modem registration/activation went fine and it's been online for 7 days. I saw an immediate increase in upload speed, now around 15-25 mbps. But download speed increased only slightly, from about 28 mbps on the prior Motorola 5120 modem to a very consistent at ~32 mbps with the new modem on both Cox and Speedtest.net tests. So not much of an increase and nowhere near the 50 mbps Preferred service implemented in July (I believe). Modem firmware d3000-v302r125533-120716a-COX.bin Jul 16 17:16:46 2012. Account Details page displays Hardware: RSA3010. I go to the "modem upgrade" link from the Cox speed test, enter my account info, and the page replies "To get the fastest speed offered with your package, you need to upgrade your modem." So, where do I logically go from here - does that last result mean my Cox account settings don't yet recognize the D3 modem and a setting needs to be updated? Or should I pursue the traditional speed troubleshooting from the sticky? Or maybe it's a lemon of a refurbished modem? Thanks for guidance.
