I live in Oklahoma City. I have 2 desktops and a laptop all running Windows 8.1 x64 on a wireless home setup. Although currently everything seems to be going ok, I am considering replacement of my modem and router. I presently have a Linksys SB5101 Modem and a Linksys WRT 54G2 Router, both 3 or 4 years old. I am considering a Motorola SB6141 modem and Asus RT-N66u router. A couple of questions - would this be a good new setup? Or, would you advise something else? Also, how do I go about getting the latest firmware after I purchase the new modem and router? Should this increase my speeds - which right now are 11.60Mbps down and 5.29Mbps up? I have Cox Preferred Service which advertises 25Mbps down. (I think this is supposed to be upgraded to 50Mbps) Is doing this really worth the time, effort, and money? I don't do gaming - just mainly internet, email, etc. I'll appreciate any suggestions or comments. I know relatively little about this - just searching. Thanks.
