CG3000-RG changes firmware, won't keep default settings

Hi, I learned how to turn off NAT on this unit (192.168.100.1/RgNatControl.asp), and successfully got the unit to work with my router. But mysteriously, about an hour after it was all set up, the unit stopped working, and I later determined it was because it had downloaded another set of firmware (or perhaps settings) from Cox. Some notable changes on the unit: - The model number showed up slightly differently (changed from Residential Gateway CG3000D-RG to Customer Premises Router CG3000D-CPR) - The username/password combo changed to MSO/changeme - Menu items changed (NAT seemed to be back on again, and there were lots of new technical items in the menus) - Unit would freeze when I tried accessing some of the menus I did a factory reset, and only the first two lights would go on, so I went to bed. This morning, it's back to the -RG (non-Cox-downloaded) firmware, and NAT was back on. I turned it off, and things are working for the time being. I fully expect that later today or tomorrow the -CPR firmware will have been downloaded and I'll be back in this again. Any ideas on how to prevent Cox from being able to download firmware or change the modem's settings? Thanks!
